SU-122

by Alan Tan

This is my first attempt at experimenting and creating a Russian tank with winter camouflages. The model was primed with Tamiya Dark Green followed by airbrushing with light coats Vallejo Model Air White, chipping and
application of several layers of filters with Sin Industries
Tan Tritonal Camo to tone down the white.

Decals were then applied and sealed with Tamiya clear coat. Pin washes were applied using Raw Umber to highlight the details. 'White mapping' and fading was then done on selected areas of the tank with acrylics, oils and turpentine for a weathered winter effect. Several coats of matt varnish was subsequently airbrushed on the model. Mud effects were lastly applied to the chassis, wheels and tracks of the tank using a combination MIG pigments, acrylic resin, plaster, soil and water.
